DANIEL BUREN. Fare, Disfare, Rifare. Lavori in situ e situati 1968 - 2025 explores the artist's enduring relationship with Italy and Tuscany, presenting works he originally created there and later reinterpreted through his ongoing process of "Making, Unmaking, Remaking." Curated by Monica Preti, director of Fondazione Pistoia Musei, and Buren himself, Fare, Disfare, Rifare invites visitors to discover ten rooms and the inner courtyard of the palace, featuring a selection of paintings made between 1965 and 1967. Renowned for his signature 8.7 cm wide vertical stripes and in situ approach, Buren creates site-specific installations that respond to the physical and cultural context of each location using materials such as fabrics, mirrors, Plexiglas, and more. Centered at Palazzo Buontalenti, the exhibition extends across other Pistoia Musei venues and nearby sites, featuring both newly commissioned pieces and large-scale works from the 2000s.
